The Sunday Post 06 (On A Friday)

Hihi! T'is me, penning what should be a Sunday Post on a Thursday and publishing it on a Friday. But what can ya do. I'm in the mood to blog and to have a chat and update you all on what's being going on around these parts as I feel like I haven't done that in a really long time. This is the great thing about running a blog, I suppose - you can type up whatever you want and post it whenever you want and you don't really have to follow any rules other than your own (and even those can be broken).

Reviving The Print Wall

Remember my photo wall? I bloody loved it. Although I say photo wall when really it spread itself across one wall and up the side of one old boiler unit (now my wardrobe), I do like to think of it as one cohesive unit. Not only was it v aesthetically pleasing, it was also motivational, inspiring and often served itself well to this blog as a fabulous photo background. I had to dismantle it when I put up my new big bookcase which now stands in front of where the main bulk of photos were, and weirdly I never bothered putting it back up on a different wall in my bedroom. Today I decided to right this terrible wrong by reviving my photo wall and I thought I'd share some general thoughts and inspiration on the kinda vibe I'm going for this time around.

A Reminder

I am depressed. I am anxious. I am suicidal.
But.
I am also my favourite gemstone. I am the corners of book pages that I fold down to mark my place. I am an Eeveelution trainer, a Slytherin, the Mayor of Hogwarts. I am my favourite Lush bath bomb. I am the chipped nail polish on my fingernails that I can never be bothered to remove. I am a sister, a daughter, a girlfriend. A cat mother. A cat lover. I am the Pokemon cards organised by type and level of cuteness in my ring binder. I am the gluten-free vanilla cookies that I’ve grown obsessed with. I am a lover of vlogs, blogs and Pinterest. I am my favourite episode of Sherlock, my favourite region in Pokemon. I am the sea shell wind-chime that hangs above my bed. I am each of the teddies that Luke has won me from claw machines across the years. I am the bicycle rides that fill me with undiluted happiness. I am the Costa smoothie that’s been on my to-try list forever. I am my favourite of the two H&M stores in town. I am the characters chattering in my head that I owe a story of their own.
I am blindly holding on to life when I feel like it’s trying it’s best to let me go.
I am depressed. I am anxious. I am suicidal.
But I’m also so much more.

New To The Shelves 03

Hihi! Welcome to my second book haul of 2016. It's been a while since I bought a bunch of books in a short space of time - I've generally been picking them up here and there whenever I've come across one I like the look of - but recently I had a little splurge on Amazon (and an even smaller one in Tesco) and thought I'd share it with ya.

The Crown by Kiera Cass

Title: The Crown
Author: Kiera Cass
Genre: YA Dystopian
Length: 279 pages

Published: 3rd May 2016

Aw guyssssss. I so wanted to like this book! I mentioned in my review of The Heir that I was a bit hesitant to read the two final additions to The Selection series as sequels are never as good as the original book and unfortunately this theory manifested into reality when I read The Crown. I quite liked The Heir - although I didn't love it as much as I did the first three Selection books - but I really struggled through The Crown.

Quick Eats: Free-From Snacks On The Go

I've been a gluten- and dairy-free vegetarian for almost a month now and I feel like the transition is going pretty well. I'm still figuring out portion sizes and meal timings and alternative sources for all of the nutrients that I need but I'm steadily making progress. One of the first things I worked out, though, was how I was going to be able to survive going out without carrying a stash of snacks with me at all times. Regular going-out-being-outside anxieties aside, I began to get extra-nervous because what if I got hungry whilst out and couldn't find anything I was able to eat? I imagine that vegans feel the same way a lot of the time because most places really don't cater to special diets - I can remember the struggle when I was merely vegetarian! So today - in an attempt to revive my Quick Eats series which died a pretty mediocre death after just one post - I thought I'd share some ideas for quick free-from snacks you can grab on the go from most supermarkets or corner shops.

15 What Lauren Did Today Posts To Revisit

Recently I took a little trip down memory lane and spent an evening rereading a bunch of my old blog posts. I started What Lauren Did Today back in the summer of 2014 and I've posted pretty consistently since then, meaning I had a lot of content to reminisce over. It was so interesting/funny to see the way my photography, writing style and topic preference has evolved over the past two years and I'm ever so proud of my little corner of the internet. Not only has my skill grown (imo, who knows maybe I'm getting worse) but my follower count has slowly crept up and I feel like there's a few posts hidden in the depths of my archives that recent readers may not have experienced yet. So today I thought I'd share with you 15 different blog posts personally plucked from my 2014-215 archives!

The Happy List #10

Heeeeey guyzzzzzz. Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?! Instead of mulling over the negativity that has stopped me from posting on my blog recently, I've decided to type up another Happy List. My last one was waaaay back in February and currently stands as the only Happy List posting in 2016 at all, which is pretty miserable in itself so I figured it was time to revive the series.

July Goals

#ThrowbackFriday - Who can remember my last monthly goals post? A million points to Slytherin if you do because it was back in October 2014. Yep. I don't really know why I stopped writing them - I think I was worried people would find them annoying/boring, but the sudden impulse to do one occurred this morning and here I am.
